I listened to all of these books on audiobook in October and loved them all. I highly recommend that you take a subscription to Everand (where most titles don’t need a credit), or Audible. Catch the deals that are 99c per month and that way you can purchase at least 3 audiobooks for real cheap.

The Christmas Shoes

If you’ve ever heard the song “The Christmas Shoes,” you already know the heart of this story. The song was released in 2000, followed by the novel in 2001, and a movie adaptation in 2002. I watched the movie years ago and highly recommend it if you ever get the chance to see it. The story follows two families whose lives unexpectedly intertwine during the holiday season: one family coping with separation, and the other facing a dying mother and wife. At its center is a young boy who wants to buy a pair of shoes for his dying mother, hoping she’ll “look beautiful if she meets Jesus tonight.” His simple act of love and faith touches the life of another man who has lost sight of what truly matters, reminding us all of the compassion, hope, and meaning that Christmas brings.

The Christmas Ring

This is such a sweet and heartfelt story about a cherished family heirloom—a ring—that’s lost during an unfortunate vacation mishap. The search to find it again becomes a journey filled with hope, nostalgia, and unexpected connections. Along the way, Vanessa not only uncovers the story behind the ring but also discovers something even more precious: love. The story follows Vanessa and Saidy, an army family who lost their husband and father in the line of duty. Vanessa does not give up the search for the lost ring and finds love along the way. This book definitely has a Hallmark movie vibe, and it is actually releasing this month in theatres (Nov 2025).

Mr. Dickens and His Carol

This is one of those historical fiction books that I had to Google several times to learn if it was fact or fiction. It is set in Victorian England with such vivid detail that you can almost experience it as you read. It reimagines the period in Charles Dickens’s life leading up to the writing of A Christmas Carol. I did not appreciate how Dickens sought inspiration from former flames despite being married with children. The novel introduces a mysterious woman—possibly a ghost—who ultimately helps him rediscover his purpose, rekindle his compassion, and find his way back to his family. After a little research, I learned that it was possible that Dickens had a woman in his later years, that this character was created from.

The Christmas Book Flood

This is a Christian fictional romance set in Iceland during World War II. Even in a time of scarcity and hardship, people hold tightly to one beloved tradition, gifting books on Christmas Eve. The story follows Tatiana, a woman who secretly writes under an alias while working for an editor who doesn’t know her true identity. He’s also a children’s book author, kindhearted and creative, and before long, Tatiana finds herself falling for him. As letters, manuscripts, and hearts intertwine, love blooms in the most unexpected way, proving that even in the darkest of times, there is still a lot of hope.
